For Matt, aviation wasn’t just something he grew to love, it was embedded in his DNA. As the nephew of a retired Air Force test pilot, Matt couldn’t wait to get airborne. At nine years old, Matt ventured here to the downtown airport and, using two couch cushions to see over the dashboard of a Cessna 150, he took to the skies. At sixteen, he soloed an airplane even before he drove a car by himself. He went on to attend CMSU where he earned his private and instrument ratings. After leaving CMSU, Matt furthered his training at ATD where he earned his commercial, flight instructor and instrument instructor ratings. Outside of the airport, Matt is an avid martial artist, having achieved his 5th degree black belt in kenpo karate, and he also enjoys participating in endurance events.
